She’s the author of An Encyclopedia of Bending Time and Luminaries, and has been a contributor to The Believer, The Washington Post, Creative Nonfiction, Catapult, Ploughshares, The Oxford Review of Books, Double Feature (a book about the vernacular images of artist Patrick Pound), and other outlets. A former writing fellow and resident at Ragdale, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, and the San Francisco Public Library, she’s the co-editor of an academic text about the teaching of reading forthcoming from Guilford Press. Her research has appeared in Review of Educational Research, Reading Research Quarterly, and The Journal of Educational Research, among others.
