Kristin Keane writes often about memory, looking, and reading. She’s the author of An Encyclopedia of Bending Time and Luminaries, and has been a contributor to The Believer, The Washington Post, Creative Nonfiction, Catapult, Ploughshares, The Oxford Review of Books, Double Feature (a book about the vernacular images of artist Patrick Pound), and other outlets. A former writing fellow at Ragdale, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, and the San Francisco Public Library, she’s the co-editor of an academic text about the teaching of reading forthcoming from Guilford Press. Her research has appeared in Review of Educational Research, Reading Research Quarterly, and The Journal of Educational Research, among others. Currently a research scientist at Stanford University where she earned a PhD, she will join the faculty of UC Berkeley in the winter of 2026.
